Emmerdale fans accuse soap of ‘having it in for’ Moira Dingle

They think she's been ruined

Long-time Emmerdale viewers have accused the soap of ‘having it in for’ Moira Dingle and ‘ruining’ her character.

Some viewers were left feeling sick earlier this week when Moira shared a steamy smooch with farmhand Nate and now many have voiced their fears that her character is going down a path she’ll never come back from.

Writing on a Digital Spy forum in a lengthy opening post, one person questioned whether ‘the powers that be’ dislike Moira so much they are out to wreck her.

“I feel they are completely wrecking her character,” the commenter began.

“They made her the killer of Emma but the actor who plays Adam was leaving anyway so they could have just made it him.

“They have now saddled her with this awful, unbelievable affair story with wooden Nate and are ruining her and Cain.”

They didn’t stop there, continuing: “She barely has scenes with any characters that were close to her as her and Vanessa never interact nor do her and Chas.

“She was really supportive of Victoria at the beginning of the current storyline even staying with her and going to the hospital, now Vic never speaks to her. I don’t think Moira even knows she is planning to leave.

“Even Matty doesn’t seem to speak to his mum that much.

“They never give Moira any light stories they just pile on the misery and give her less characters to interact with.”

Other users were quick to agree: “Moira used to be a great character. But now all she does is work on the farm and look after Issac.

“I think the producer has got a lot to with the decline of her character. And don’t think she will recover when her marriage ends after Cain finds out about her [and Nate].”

“They could have made Moira the matriarch of the Dingle family, fighting their corner, instead she is just a slapper,” added someone else.

“It’s such a shame as Moira and Cain are good together and they could have been the next Zac and Lisa holding the family together.

“The writers are so short sighted and need inspiration otherwise they will lose viewers.”

A fourth responded: “I loved Moira when she came into the show, but they have taken a decent character and ruined her.”

Someone else agreed: “She was a great character at the start, but I find her far too much of a hypocrite to be taken seriously these days.”

And a further comment said: “I think they have no idea what to do with Moira. I don’t know if they have in a long time.”

The soap had teased chemistry between Nate and Moira over the past few weeks.

Firstly when Moira was about to walk out of The Woolpack without taking her phone with her, Nate jumped up to hand it over.

In another sexually charged scene Moira returned home to see Nate parading round in his underwear after using her shower.

Fans are convinced there is more to Nate than meets the eye.

Some viewers have predicted he is the son of Cain, while others are convinced he’s Cain’s brother Nathan’s son, making Nate Cain’s nephew.

There is also a theory that Kim Tate hired Nate to destroy Cain and Moira’s marriage.

Emmerdale is on Monday to Friday at 7pm with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursday on ITV.
