Kym, who joined the soap in 2006, announced in February she would be departing the soap later this year after over a decade playing Michelle.
The 42-year-old actress and singer signed on to the ITV soap as former pub landlady Michelle 13 years ago in what was supposed to be a cameo role.
She has now decided it's the "right time" for her to move on to something new.
She told The Sun newspaper: "When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I'd be here 13 years later.
"It's been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time for me to explore some other roles."
Kym's departure from the show was confirmed by Corrie executive producer John Whiston.
During her time on the cobbles, Kym has been involved in some heavy plots, including losing her baby when she was 23 weeks pregnant, being drugged and kidnapped by her ex-partner Will, and being involved in a car crash with her son Ali.
Kym isn't the only one departing the soap as Lucy Fallon announced she would be leaving when her contract ended in 2020.
Kate Connor actress Faye Brookes also announced back in April she would be leaving the soap. This came after her on-screen fiancée, Rana, played by Bhavna Limbachia, was killed in the Underworld factory roof collapse.
In April, Tristan Gemmill, who plays Michelle's fiancé Robert Preston, also announced he had quit after four years on the soap.
