Coronation Street’s Michelle Connor faces heartbreak on wedding day

She finds out the truth on their wedding day

It won’t be happy ever after for Coronation Street‘s Michelle Connor when she reportedly finds out Robert Preston has got another woman pregnant on their wedding day.

The final storyline for actress Kym Marsh will see her leave the soap in dramatic fashion after discovering Robert’s (Tristan Gemmill) fling with Vicky Jefferies (Kerri Quinn), and the revelation is said to be what puts her exit in motion.

An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: “This fling takes place while Michelle and Robert temporarily split up, then when they’re reunited they decide to have a secret wedding, by inviting guests on the premise it’s for his 50th birthday.

“But Vicky reveals she is pregnant with his baby, which poses a real dilemma for him as he has always wanted to be a father.

“That leaves him with a huge decision over whether he stays with Michelle, the woman he loves but who doesn’t want a baby, or leaves her to guarantee a new life as a father?”

A Coronation Street spokesperson told ED!: “We don’t comment on storyline speculation.”

Earlier this month, outgoing soap star Kym, 42, dismissed claims of a crisis on the cobbles with Tristan also leaving, alongside the the likes of Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) and Faye Brookes (Kate Connor).

She recently told OK! magazine: “Whichever actors are involved in it, Coronation Street will continue to be a big, brilliant show. There’s no ‘crisis’.

“It’s just natural that a show like Corrie will have comings and goings – just like you would on any real-life street in the UK.

“I personally can’t wait to see which new faces might be turning up on the cobbles.”

Kym announced her departure from the show earlier this year by telling The Sun: “When I was lucky enough to be offered four episodes I could never in my wildest dreams have thought I’d be here 13 years later.

“It’s been an incredibly difficult decision but it feels like the right time for me to explore some other roles.”

Corrie executive producer John Whiston said he was “sad” to be losing her from the show, but “totally understands” her desire to head off into new ventures.

The star later told Loose Women she wasn’t leaving for good and was just “taking a break”.

“I’ve said I’m taking a break, so yeah. I think it’s just a break for me.

“Being there for 13 years without taking anytime away…”

But it remains to be seen whether her exit will tie in with Robert’s.

Fans predicted a while ago that Robert was having a fling with Vicky. The Bistro owner has been acting shiftily for a few months now and is one of three suspects in the factory roof collapse.
