Corrie viewers spot continuity error as Peter Barlow returns to Weatherfield

He quit rehab to help Carla...

Fans of Coronation Street were delighted to see Peter Barlow back in Weatherfield last night, albeit it under worrying circumstances.

The fan favourite returned to the Street after apparently checking himself out of rehab in a bid to help a psychotic Carla Connor.

On Wednesday (May 15), viewers saw Peter storm into the hospital where Carla was being restrained and medicated after being found by Roy in a distressing state.

Just weeks ago, Peter checked into rehab after relapsing into his alcohol addiction.

After Carla vanished in a fragile mental state, Peter spent sleepless nights searching the streets of Manchester to try and track her down – but, when he couldn’t find her, he turned to booze.

Having made her reluctant return to the cobbles, however, Carla was admitted to hospital and told Roy she would only speak with Peter…

Against his father Ken’s wishes, Roy collected Peter from the rehab facility where fans were delighted to see him again… And his amazing tan.

During tense and emotional scenes, viewers couldn’t help but notice that Peter had a glowing tan.

Where exactly was this rehab centre Peter? Spain?

Taking to Twitter to comment on Peter’s healthy appearance, one viewer posted: “Is this clinic in Marbella Pete? #Corrie #suntanking.”

Another joked: “Good tan in rehab, eh, Peter?”

A third added: “Flipping heck, Peter’s got a ridiculously good tan. He didn’t get that in Weatherfield.”

“Where has Peter been scouring the streets for Carla – Marbella?” asked another.

Actually, in real life, Chris Gascoyne has recently returned from a holiday in Lanzarote where he shared a snap on his new Instagram page.

Just this week, the soap star also shared a throwback photo with none other than Johnny Depp, which led his fans to speculate about a possible Corrie cameo from the Pirates of the Caribbean actor.

Tan or no tan, Corrie fans were thrilled to have Peter and Carla reunited with one saying: “Carla means everything to Peter.”

Another said: “I don’t mean to be greedy, but can we have more Carla and Peter please #Corrie.”

A third warned that Peter “needs to look after himself too”, while one more typed: “Carla is Peter’s reason to live. He started to drink when he thought he’d lost her. She will be his sense of purpose #Corrie.”

However, another called their relationship “toxic” and believed they should not be together.

Will Peter be able to help Carla, as well as look after himself?

Earlier this week, Coronation Street gave hope to fans of Carla and Peter by hinting at a happy end for them.

The ITV soap has released its Saturday sneak peeks from last week’s filming – and there’s good news.

Carla Connor appears to be back at home at Roy’s flat and she’s joined by not only a smiling Roy but Peter too, as well as her friend Michelle Connor.

As the soap films around six weeks in advance, these scenes are set to air in June or July, meaning they are well after the harrowing events of Britain’s Got Talent week.
