Over the past few months, Emmerdale viewers have been left increasingly frustrated with David Metcalfe, who remains worryingly oblivious to the abuse going on under his own nose.
The naive shop owner has failed to spot several warning signs that his girlfriend Maya Stepney is having sex with his 16-year-old son, after grooming him under the disguise of giving him extra school tuition.

But fans of the ITV soap were horrified last night (Tuesday 26 March) when David prepared to leave Jacob ALONE with Maya for a week while he goes away.
Millions watching from home were screaming at their TV’s, when David even told his son to “be nice” to Maya.
The uncomfortable scenes saw David talking to his family about his trip, when he told Jacob: “Be nice to Maya. She could have come away with me for the weekend, but she was more concerned about helping you with your revision.”

Later Maya enraged fans when she said: “I know how to handle teenagers.”
Fans were revolted, with one seething: “#Emmerdale the Jacob/Maya storyline needs to be done. Feel sick watching it.”
Another said: “‘Be nice to Maya’. No worries there David, that’s well at the top of Jacob’s to-do list. #Emmerdale.”
A third typed: “We all know you can handle teenagers Maya. That is the problem! #Emmerdale.”

Even Celebrity Big Brother star India Willoughby was moved to tweet about the storyline, writing: “This #Emmerdale storyline with Maya is creeping me out. Someone please catch her and Jacob!”
“David the thick [bleep] is handing his son over to Maya on a golden platter. #emmerdale,” commented another.
Last week, fans were very upset when Maya was seen emotionally blackmailing Jacob into sex, even though he said “no”.
Although Barnados have been involved in the storyline, and the cast insist the story needs telling, many fans want the plot to end.
