Steve McDonald will get a shock in tonight’s Coronation Street when he realises Emma Brooker’s mum is his ex-girlfriend Fiona Middleton.
And Liz – who has already pieced together the truth – will fill him in on the fact he probably has another daughter.
Recently viewers discovered Emma’s mum was former cobbles resident Fiona after Audrey picked up Emma’s mobile and saw a photo of the hairdresser.
However in tonight’s episode (August 14 2019), a preview shows Emma revealing to Steve who her mother is.
When Steve goes into the cafe he spots an upset Emma and asks how her dad is.
Emma reveals her dad passed away the night before and begins crying.
Steve tries to comfort his neighbour and asks how her mother is coping, bearing in mind he has no idea who she is.
The hairdresser tells Steve that her mum couldn’t care less and that she lives in Australia and wouldn’t even come back when Emma told her that her ex-husband was ill.
Emma also reveals to Steve that her mum has family in the area and she used to live in Weatherfield.
When Steve asks if it’s anyone he would know Emma says she use to be a hairdresser and her name was Fiona Brooker.
Of course the name didn’t ring a bell until Emma said: “she was probably called Fiona Middleton back then.”
Steve then tells Emma that he knew her mum quite well – that’s an understatement!
As Emma breaks down in tears again, Steve gives the young girl a hug as his mum Liz walks in.
Liz tells Steve they need to have that chat now… Is she about to tell Steve all she knows?
In Monday’s double dose of Corrie (August 12 2019) Emma went to visit her dad, who has stomach cancer, in hospital.
Audrey went with Emma in order to give her some support, but when Emma went to her father’s bedside, he made a shocking confession.
He told his daughter that he always loved her like she was his own. Confused by his words, Emma decided to ring her mum in order to get some answers.
She was left heartbroken when her mum told her she was sorry she had to find out that way, meaning the man who raised her wasn’t biologically her father.
Emma’s mum attempted to ring her once more, but poor Emma was too upset to even speak to her.
As Emma ran off, she left her mobile phone on the chair. Audrey picked it up and was shocked to see a picture of Fiona.
Audrey tried to get some more information about Fiona from Emma as she began to realise Emma’s biological dad could be closer than she thought.
Emma revealed that her mum had never asked about where she was living, and it became apparent they weren’t very close.

Shortly after Emma’s discovery the man who raised her and she believed to be her dad, passed away from his cancer.
Audrey went back to the Rovers to talk to Steve’s mum Liz about what she had found out.
They managed to piece bits together and realised that Emma could very well be Steve’s daughter.

However, some fans have a theory that Steve’s dad Jim McDonald could be Emma’s father, as Fiona had an affair with him during her time on the cobbles.
Coronation Street fans will remember Fiona was on the cobbles from 1992 till 1998.
