Emmerdale fans demand Amy Walsh win “all the awards” for her portrayal of Tracy Metcalfe

The character is grief-stricken after her dad died

Emmerdale viewers have united in their praise for actress Amy Walsh.

The Bradford-born soap star, 32, is currently portraying grief-stricken character Tracy Metcalfe, who is struggling in the aftermath of the factory fire that led to the death of dad Frank Clayton.

In horrifying scenes last week, Frank died after saving Tracy from the factory fire.

He passed away in front of his distraught daughters, with Tracy howling in grief knowing he would most likely still be alive if it wasn’t for her decision to meet Billy in the factory.

Actress Amy, sister to Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh, has described the scenes as the “most challenging” she’s ever done in her career.

And her performance has not gone unnoticed by soap fans.

In fact, many Emmerdale viewers have flocked to Twitter demanding the actress win “all the awards” in future TV ceremonies.

One wrote: “Dear Emmerdale, please keep Amy Walsh in mind when it comes to putting people forward for awards.

“She’s one of your stand-out performers. She consistently delivers funny, emotional and heartbreaking performances. Brilliant. Looking forward to seeing where Tracy’s story goes.”

Another said: “Give Amy Walsh every award.”

A third added: “Seriously, though, if Amy Walsh isn’t up for every possible award next year, I will be asking some questions. Tremendous.”

“Amy Walsh should win a Soap Award for Best Dramatic Performance,” stated one more fan.

During a recent press event, the actress admitted the storyline was incredibly hard to act, saying: “It’s 100 per cent the most challenged I’ve ever been in the show and professionally I think.

“I’ve done a lot of crying in my time in plays, and obviously I’m a girl so we cry a lot! But this is another extreme, she’s absolutely broken after this and completely in turmoil.

“I absolutely love it and have loved every minute of it but it takes its toll physically.”

While fans have piled on the love for Amy and her character Tracy, they have turned against the culprits of the fire.

Kerry and daughter Amy Wyatt have become public enemy number one after inadvertently starting the factory fire while stealing money from the safe.

Kerry has since tried to pin the blame on Frank, and even visited the morgue with Tracy in scenes that left fans raging.

Only time will tell if Amy wins “all the awards” and whether Kerry and Amy will face punishment.
