It’s the storyline all Emmerdale viewers have been waiting for… The moment manipulative teacher Maya Stepney is arrested for grooming schoolboy Jacob Gallagher.
And it’s just days away.

Now the ITV soap has confirmed the return of a character who may be instrumental in bringing disturbed Maya to justice.
Hollyoaks star Neil Roberts will be reprising the role of DS Jason Wise, two years after he was last seen in the village.
The popular detective will be seen again as part of a storyline in next week’s episodes.
Eagle-eyed fans saw the actor in next week’s cast list and the soap then confirmed his return to Digital Spy.

And it’s only natural that some have jumped to the conclusion that DS Wise will be involved in bringing Maya down.
One tweeted: “According to next week’s cast list DS Wise is back. I’m presuming it’s about Jacob, but would love to see him and Aaron share some scenes #Emmerdale #Robron.”
Others wondered if the character would be investigating Victoria’s rape, with one typing: “Wow, DS Wise is back in #Emmerdale soon. I wonder if he’s investigating Vic’s rape? Should be interesting seeing #chaddy reaction and Aaron’s on his return #robron @emmerdale.”

He first appeared on Emmerdale in 2016 when he investigated the historic sex abuse that Aaron Dingle suffered when he was a child.
As well as helping to convict Aaron’s abusive dad Gordon Livesy, DS Wise also enjoyed a brief fling with Aaron’s mum Chas, before leaving the village in early 2017.
Actor Neil later joined Hollyoaks as Glenn Donovan, a role which was eventually recast to Bob Cryer due to scheduling conflicts.
Spoilers tell us that Maya is set to finally face the consequences of her heinous actions next week, when the police arrive in Emmerdale to arrest her for her sexual abuse of Jacob.
Maya will be taken away by the police just moments before she planned to run away with the teenager – and it’s all thanks to Jacob’s adoptive dad, David Metcalfe, and some spy software…
After months of being blind to what was happening right under his nose, David was left sickened last week when he found out that Maya has groomed his son Jacob into sleeping with her.
