Coronation Street planted the seeds for Todd Grimshaw’s return in last night’s episode (Wednesday, August 19). But why did he go on the run in the first place?
In the visit to the cobbles, Mary opened a letter for Eileen and discovered it was from Todd demanding money.
Todd was last seen in 2017 after going on the run. However his exit was pretty quick and some viewers seem to have forgotten just why Todd fled.
Never miss a #Corrie episode but really struggling to remember how/why Todd left before…

Coronation Street: Why did Todd Grimshaw go on the run?
In 2017 Todd was in a relationship with vicar Billy Mayhew. Billy was contacted by his ex-boyfriend Drew Spellman and explained that he was terminally ill.
Drew told Billy when he died he would like him to become the guardian for his daughter Summer.
After Drew’s death, Summer went to live with her grandmother Geraldine and grandfather Angus. Geraldine wanted Summer to live with her as she didn’t approve of homosexuality.
However Angus revealed Drew had changed his will and stated that Drew wanted Summer to be with Billy and Todd.
Summer chose to live with Billy and Todd but Geraldine attempted to go for custody. As Todd had grown close to Summer, he feared losing her and he ran off with the teenager.
They were on the run for a month but the police managed to track them down. When the police got there, Todd told Summer to go. He ended up assaulting a police officer before fleeing into the woods and going on the run.
Summer managed to get back to Billy and Eileen but Todd hasn’t been seen since.
What happened to former actor Bruno Langley?
Todd was played by Bruno Langley on and off from 2001 until 2017.
However he was written out of the ITV soap after he pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault in 2017.
In December of that year, Bruno revealed he was seeking help for alcohol addiction and felt “ashamed” after the ITV soap sacked him.
He said: “I have no excuse, no one forced me to drink to such an extreme, but it is hard to explain why I would do anything as dreadful as that. It must have been awful for those women, and I am truly ashamed of myself. I’m truly sorry.
“I sincerely apologise to the women, from the bottom of my heart. I promise I will never do anything like that again.”
He added: “I accept my punishment because I know what I did was wrong. I’m not trying to attribute blame to anyone other than myself.
“To treat women in the way I did is truly shocking. I was horrified when I heard what I’d done. My behaviour was dreadful. I’m so sorry for what has happened.”
It appears Bruno is now working as a photographer.
Who will be playing Todd when he returns?
Todd will be played by actor Gareth Pierce.
Gareth previously had roles in Sky One’s Stella playing Lenny Mack. He also played Gavin Moss in The Archers and starred in Ordinary Lies and Hinterland for the BBC.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
