Prince William has broken his silence to mark his birthday today.
The Duke of Cambridge turns 40 today (June 21) and fans and members of the Royal Family have been paying tributes.
Following a day of marking the occasion, William took to social media to say thanks to those who had reached out.

“Thank you for all the happy birthday messages today! W,” tweeted the royal from their official Twitter account.
Fans rushed to respond, with many sharing their well wishes and congratulations.
One said: “Happy birthday William!!!! God bless you.”

“Happy birthday again, Sir! #40sClub,” tweeted another.
In addition, a third added: “Happy birthday and best regards to you, your Royal Highness!”
Meanwhile, royals have come out in force to mark William’s big day.
A heartwarming thread shared on the Royal Family’s Twitter account celebrated some key milestones throughout William’s life.
The memories included snaps of William at his graduation from St Andrew’s University in June 2005.
Elsewhere, another gave fans a glimpse of William on his wedding day to the Duchess of Cambridge.
Tusk, of which William is a patron, also wished him a happy birthday.
“We would like to wish Prince William a very happy 40th birthday and take this opportunity to express our deep appreciation for his unswerving support and encouragement as Royal Patron of Tusk since 2005,” said the charity.
Prince Charles also marked his son’s birthday with a touching tribute on Instagram.
The Clarence House account posted five pictures of William, one from every decade he’s been alive.

The caption wrote: “Wishing The Duke of Cambridge a very happy 40th birthday! Swipe through the decades!”
“Such a sweet collection of pictures – 40 already, gosh, time flies,” gushed one royal follower.
Another responded: “Happy Birthday Prince William, how proud your family must be of you, we all are!”
