While he doesn’t look a day over 25, today (August 26) actually marks the 30th birthday of the iconic M&S Colin the Caterpillar cake.
Now, we don’t know about you, but we feel it’s only right to celebrate with a slice of the chocolate cake and toast Colin’s health and happiness.
The good people at M&S, however, had other ideas.
How is Colin celebrating his 30th?
The store has celebrated Colin’s big 3-0 with a number of new launches.
Last week saw the release of the delicious Colin the Caterpillar white chocolate Mini Faces.
This week, however, the store has gone one better.
It’s unveiled a huge Colin the Caterpillar chocolate trifle for the famous bug’s big day!
“In honour of Colin’s 30th birthday celebrations, we’ve turned our favourite caterpillar into an EPIC chocolate trifle using our iconic cake and new Mini Colin Faces!” a rep said.
I love Colin so much that I had two Colin cakes for my last birthday!
You can find the recipe on the store’s website here.
One word of warning though, the recipe calls for an ingredient we’ve never heard of.
You have to use something called “leftover slices of Colin the Caterpillar cake”!
Colin joins Instagram
Meanwhile, in other Colin news, he has also been given permission to join Instagram.
One of the first posts he shared was a throwback to his original look – and boy has he changed!
His fans also took to the post to offer their birthday wishes.
“I love Colin so much that I had two Colin cakes for my last birthday!” said one fan.
“I buy one every year for my husband called Colin,” said another.
“I was 30 in July. Welcome to club 30, Colin!” another posted.
“Colin you are my birthday cake every year, but you’d be a special guest to my hubby’s 50th on 16th Sept this year too!” said another.
On his Instagram page, Colin boasts that he actually attends around 450,000 birthday parties a year!
That’s 10 million since his launch!
