Strictly Come Dancing: New series with Lucy Fallon and Keith Duffy rumored

A string of names have been thrown into the mix

Strictly Come Dancing will return to our screens for a brand new series later this year.

15 brand new contestants will shimmy their way across the dance floor in the hope of impressing the judging panel.

Last year saw Stacey Dooley and professional dancer Kevin Clifton take the crown, but who is rumoured to be joining the line-up for this year’s series?

Coronation Street actress Lucy Fallon is one name rumoured to be getting her dancing shoes on.

It came after pro dancer AJ Pritchard admitted Lucy is on the top of his list of celebrities he’d like to be partnered with.

He told the Daily Star: “I think partners for myself – one that looks really good, correct height, has to go off height because I’m a small guy, it’s simple – Lucy Fallon.

“She’s a great partner, she’s the right height. I saw her at a party, she can move – that’s always a help.”

Sunday Brunch’s Tim Lovejoy dropped a big hint that he’s joining the line-up this year.

On Chris Evans’ Virgin Radio Breakfast Show, his co-star Simon Rimmer joked: “Tim’s going to do it this year.”

Tim replied: “Done deal”, before adding: “I haven’t been offered it, so I don’t know… But, pre-Simon being on it, it was more of a no than it is now.”

Keith Duffy

Boyzone’s Keith Duffy is another name that has been thrown into the mix.

According to the Mirror, the singer is “on the list” of the names “in the mix for this year’s show”.

It’s been said that Strictly bosses reckon he could “be a ratings hit”.

Gemma Collins

Gemma Collins could be a potential contestant for this year’s Strictly following her stint on Dancing On Ice this year.

The star made headlines throughout her stint on the ice and BBC bosses may want her to bring some drama to this year’s series.

Scarlett Moffatt has admitted she would “love” to do Strictly – but is worried her dancing experience.

During Heart Breakfast, Scarlett said: “I would love that, but I’m a qualified dance teacher so I feel like I’ve got a bit of an advantage.

“People don’t like it when people can already dance on that show. They want to see a journey.”

During an appearance on The One Show, Chris said: “I have said yes. Everyone puts it off and tries and keep it a secret. No, announce now. We’re doing it now.”

He then joked he only wants to take part in the show so his wife, Natasha Shishmanian, can get tickets.

He said: “So you and my wife will go every week. You will have a great time while I’ll be petrified backstage, with shaky legs and all that kind of stuff.”

Chris added that he had discussed taking part in Strictly with the show’s commissioning editor Jo Wallace.

He revealed: “We had a cup of tea and she said, ‘Are you up for it? This is what you need to know about it, this is the minimum, this is the maximum, it’s not as easy as maybe you imagine it is.’ But I know it isn’t.”

Rowing legend James Cracknell apparently wants to take to the dance floor.

The star was reportedly banned from taking part in the BBC Ballroom and Latin show by his wife Beverley Turner because she didn’t want “some Russian [bleep] in his face” but he’s deliberating signing up to the programme later this year now that he has split from the 45-year-old television presenter.

A source told The Sun newspaper: “James has always been interested in doing some reality TV but after getting offered Strictly Come Dancing last year Beverley put her foot down.

“She always trusted James but she told pals she didn’t want ‘some Russian [bleep] in his face every week’ as part of the competition.

“Now they’re not together, James wants to go on the show. He thinks it will be good for his profile. He’s not signed the contract yet but everyone’s keen.”

Vogue Williams

Reality star Vogue Williams is reportedly being eyed by producers to go on the show.

A source told The Sun: “Vogue has all the credentials to be on Strictly and is mates with someone in the casting department.

“It looks as though 2019 will be her time.”

Vogue has previously competed in the Australian version of the show, Dancing with the Stars, in 2012.

Rylan Clark-Neal has said he would be up for doing Strictly.

The Big Brother’s Big on the Side presenter told the Express: “Not I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! – absolutely not… It’d probably be Strictly Come Dancing if anything, but I never make plans.”

Sophie Hinchliffe AKA Mrs Hinch

Cleaning influencer Sophie Hinchliffe AKA Mrs Hinch is another name in the mix.

Earlier this year, The Sun reported that show bosses were keen to make sure the line up appeals to younger fans, so want to expand their list to include more internet celebrities, especially after the success of last year’s YouTube contestant Joe Sugg.

A source said: “They are keen to keep the show current and loved the influx of extra fans they got with vlogger Joe Sugg.

“The country is obsessed with Mrs Hinch and they think she would be a perfect fit.

“She has a great personality and is super glamorous too, so would be perfect in all the glitzy costumes.”

Natasha Hamilton

Atomic Kitten star Natasha Hamilton has been rumoured to be joining the line-up.

According to The Mirror, the singer is part of the BBC’s wish list of celebs they would love to have on the show.

An insider said: “There are a lot of names in the mix for this year’s show and Keith [Duffy] and Natasha are on the list. Bosses feel they could be a ratings hit.”

Steps singer Lee Latchford-Evans previously said he “definitely do” Strictly.

He told the Express: “There’s a few reality shows I would do and likewise, there is a few I wouldn’t do.

“I think Strictly is one I would definitely do… there’s no harm in doing something where you’re learning something

“Strictly you’re obviously doing something new and I’ve never ballroom danced in my life so that would be fun. Yeah, why not. Let’s give it a go!”

Blue Peter presenter Radzi Chinyanganya is reportedly “in advanced talks” to appear on the show.

A source told The Sun: “Bosses are really keen to get Radzi on board. He’s really well loved within the BBC and has a lot of potential.

“He’s being viewed as a bit of a rising star, much like Stacey Dooley last year – who was hugely successful on the show.

“Radzi already has a lot of younger fans and is likely to get all their parents’ votes, but he’s bound to win over the public because he is just so likeable.”

Huw Edwards

BBC News presenter Huw Edwards recently revealed he’s been asked to join Strictly. And he said he’s considering it!

Huw told Radio 2’s Steve Wright: “Following my stellar appearance reading out the [Strictly] terms and conditions in early December, where I basically set the British television world alight, I was then asked whether I would consider Strictly.

“And I think the answer is, Steve, I’ve come here today for some advice and for your seal of approval.”

However, he added: “I think I’ve just got to ponder it over the summer… just gauge public opinion.”

Speaking at The BAFTA TV Awards, Huw also said he would find doing the show “quite difficult” with his current job as a newsreader.

Tamara Eccleston has reportedly been on producers’ lists before, however, she “wasn’t in the position” to do Strictly.

A source told The Sun: “Tamara has been on producers’ lists before, but she wasn’t in a position to do it. Now her daughter is older she feels it’s something she would love to do.”

Documentary maker Louis Theroux joked he might be getting his dancing shoes on later this year.

Following Stacey Dooley’s win last year, Louis tweeted: “Congrats, @ StaceyDooley! Me next! (JK).”

The official Strictly Twitter account then responded with a phone emoji.

Radio presenter Roman Kemp could be signing up for the show as his fellow Capital FM host Vick Hope said she’s “certain” he will do Strictly “one day”.

She told the Radio Times that Roman “has definitely been asked a number of times” to do the show.

Vick added that he’s also “a really good dancer and he was a champion foxtrotter when he was younger”.

EastEnders actress Lacey Turner previously admitted she would do Strictly.

She told OK! Magazine: “I don’t know if I could do any, but I guess if I was going to do any I would do either Strictly, although I can’t dance, or the jungle.”

Wes Nelson

Love Island and Dancing On Ice star Wes Nelson is another name that has been thrown into the mix.

He previously told Celebs Now: “I reckon Strictly Come Dancing would be good fun, but I want to have a break from reality TV for a bit I think.

“I’ve come straight from Love Island to this and then to go to another thing would write me off, but Strictly would be hilarious!”

He finished second in this year’s Dancing On Ice, so could he be going for gold on this year’s Strictly?

Some members of the royal family have been rumoured to be taking part.

According to the Mirror, bosses are interested in getting Princess Anne’s daughter Zara Phillips, her husband Mike Tindall and Prince Andrew’s ex-wife Sarah Ferguson on the show.

A source said: “Strictly is a proper family show and hugely respected. So bosses think it wouldn’t be a problem for a royal to take to the dance floor.”
