A total of eight BBC stars have won Strictly in the past

In latest Strictly Come Dancing news, show bosses have hit back at fix and favouritism claims.

It comes after statistics showed that nearly 50 per cent of celebrities are likely to reach the final if they’re from the BBC.

The Sun reports that a total of eight BBC stars have won over the course of the show’s eighteen seasons.

This statistic is equivalent to 44 per cent of celebrities.

Former BBC winners include Stacey Dooley, Ore Oduba, Chris Hollins, Tom Chambers and Joe McFadden.

These statistics are misleading

In addition, EastEnders stars Jill Halfpenny and Kara Tointon have also lifted the Glitterball trophy.

However, a Strictly representative has since hit back at the claims of “favouritism”.

They told Entertainment Daily!: “These statistics are misleading. The winner of Strictly is decided by the public vote.”

ED! has contacted the BBC for further comment.
