Strictly Come Dancing: Comedian Joe Lycett ‘falls’ up the stairs during appearance

Fans are keen to see him take to the Strictly dance floor next year

A cameo from cheeky comic Joe Lycett had Strictly Come Dancing viewers in raptures last night – but it was his actions away from the TV cameras that really caused a stir with fans.

Panel show favourite Joe, 31, turned up in the studio audience during Saturday’s instalment of the BBC One series to read out terms and conditions relating to the phone vote.

“Mummy didn’t bring her glasses,” he joked on social media, captioning an image of him looking serious as the mickey-taking stand up concentrated on the T&Cs task given to him.

Fans were delighted to see Joe pop up on screen – with many immediately begging him to sign up for a future run of the dance programme.

“Joe Lycett for 2020. #Strictly,” one follower tweeted at Joe.

“Strictly next year????? You would be great,” added another.

A third insisted: “Oh Joe. You have to do Strictly. You just must do it.”

But should The Great Showing Bee host take to the dance floor, Joe may hope he doesn’t get paired up with Katya Jones after he took a dig at the dance pro’s recent inability to stay on her feet.

A separate social media post from Joe revealed he recreated the sweep up the stairs Strictly stars are shown doing as they wait for their scores following comments from the judges.

But in a hilarious recreation of Katya’s Movie Week tumbles, Joe also put the trip into ‘tripping the light fantastic’.

“I’ll see you in court,” he joked in the caption on Twitter. He added on Instagram: “This was intentional I promise.”

“Katya did it better and with more style,” commented one fan, adding laughing emojis to their post.
