Dermot O’Leary recalls moment he was accused of dropping c-bomb to X Factor contestant

It could have been awkward!

X Factor presenter Dermot O’Leary has confessed that he has had his fair share of drama when it comes to live TV.

Despite years in the business, he revealed he’s had some “terrible” moments along the way.

He has opened up about the time he nearly had an embarrassing blunder live on the X Factor, when viewers accused him of swearing at contestant Katie Waissel.

Speaking to OK! magazine, he said: “I haven’t dropped the F-bomb yet.

“There was a terrible moment when Katie Waissel was on the show. She was in the sing-off and I said: ‘Good luck hun,’ but when it was replayed on YouTube it sounded like I said: ‘Good luck…’ and then the worst swear word you can think of, to the point where she came in and asked for an apology.

“My producer said, ‘He can’t apologise for something he didn’t say!'”

The 45-year-old has hosted the X Factor since 2007 with the exception of 2015, when Caroline Flack and Olly Murs stepped in.

He also said he doesn’t “worry too much” about the show’s viewing figures these days.

Despite X Factor’s ratings dropping since it first began in 2004, Dermot insists the team are more interested in putting out a “good show”.
