Corrie SPOILER: Pat Phelan plot set to get even darker

He’s told the priest he’s still up to no good. Watch out Corrie residents, watch out

Pat Phelan is going to go down in history as one of those soap characters who is so bad, we’ll see his face in some random ITV drama in 10 years time and still get goosebumps.

It’ll take us a while to realise why he terrifies us to our very soap souls and then we’ll think of one woman and figure it out: Anna Windass.

And it doesn’t look like Phelan’s going to become a good guy who gives to charity and makes you a cuppa any time soon either.

Last night he went to church to confess (some of) what he’d done, but also to admit that he was still doing bad things. Which means that there are more Phelan revelations to come.

But just what is he up to now that’s bad? We haven’t seen anything, but that doesn’t mean to say he’s not doing something very dodgy behind the scenes…

And whatever he’s done now will be added to the list of forcing Anna Windass to sleep with him, watching Michael Rodwell die and causing Andy Carver’s death too. Oh and there was that massive fraud scam as well. Nice guy.

Phelan headed to church to confess after a crisis of conscience brought on by the arrival of his long lost daughter Nicola Rubenstein, who turned up on the cobbles recently and seems to be Phelan’s achilles heel (topical reference, more on that later).

Actress Nicola Thorp who plays his daughter has said that there are some MASSIVE Phelan twists ahead that we don’t want to be missing.

“It’s a really exciting autumn we have coming up – if people don’t already watch Coronation Street now’s the time,” she said on Lorraine.

“It will make soap history – it’s as big as that.”

She’s also suggested that however it’s done, the autumn will bring the Phelan narrative to an end once and for all. Oh god, he had better get found out. And Owen Armstrong had better come back to be there for it all.

Nicola, who screen-tested for the role of Kate Connor, had previously made headlines for being sent home from a temp job for refusing to wear heels and campaigning on the subject afterwards.

It meant that she had to have quite an awkward conversation with the Corrie wardrobe department…

“She called me to get an idea of what she should wear,” she said, “and I was like, ‘Oh… Um, is it ok if she doesn’t wear heels for a while?’”

On the other hand Nicola, a high stiletto could be a potential weapon if your dad turns on you too.
