Harriet Finch has become the backbone of the Emmerdale community since taking residence as the vicar of St Mary’s church.
She was instrumental in getting Charity Dingle to open up during her recent ordeal at the hands of corrupt cop DI Bails, and has been a source of great comfort to grieving parents Chas and Paddy after the death of their daughter.
She’s been a shoulder to cry on for all residents of the village, religious or otherwise, but that might be about to change…
In upcoming scenes, Harriet (played by Katherine Dow Blyton) might be needing support herself as her ugly past comes back to haunt her.
Viewers know that Harriet is a former policewoman who has been the local vicar in Emmerdale on and off since 2013.
She’s a bit of a maverick and far from squeaky clean – in fact, she was once sacked (and later reinstated) for performing an unauthorised wedding blessing and famously had a steamy affair with local bad boy Cain Dingle (which some fans would like to see rekindled).
Now it seems a future storyline is about to send a shockwave through her currently calm(ish) life.
Harriet’s dark history is set to come back with a vengeance, according to the TV Times.
The magazine reports that the character has a huge shock in store, which is somehow connected to her working undercover before becoming a vicar.
She is said to have “met some characters and made some difficult decisions”.
So is one of these past “characters” about to turn up in Emmerdale with an agenda?
And what will happen to the village residents if their vicar folds on them?
