Danny Miller praises NHS for saving niece in heartfelt tribute

The soap actor gave his heartfelt gratitude...

Danny Miller has shared an emotional tribute to the National Health Service.

The Emmerdale actor, who plays Aaron Dingle, posted a heartfelt message to his 366,000 Instagram and Twitter followers praising the NHS for the work they do and for taking care of his “princess” niece.

Writing on his social media accounts late on Wednesday evening (31 October), Danny explained how his premature niece had been battling for her life in hospital ever since being born more than three months ago.

In a beautifully-worded message, Danny began by saying: “This post isn’t seeking your attention or sympathy for me. This post is seeking your attention and sympathy for the #NHS.

“100 days ago… My gorgeous little niece.. – Callie Lennon Miller – .. was born into this world to begin her battle of life. After just 26 weeks in the comfort of my incredible Sister In Laws womb, she brightened up our lives as she was born.”

He continued: “Born 14 weeks early, she weighed a tiny 608g (1lb 5 oz). She spent 100 days in NICU under the care of the incomparable staff of the #NHS – at both #RoyalBoltonHospital & #StMarysHospital in Manchester.

“Thanks to the team of heroes at both hospitals, she can now breathe and feed on her own and is free of incubators and tubes.”

Proud uncle Danny went on to say that a now a “whopping 6lb 6oz”, baby Callie has finally been allowed to go home to “the loving care of two beautiful human beings, in my Brother @manclydrawnboy & his courageous wife Jessica Miller, who are both already model parents”.

He concluded by saying: “If you had just half the inspiration, bravery and determination that these three have, you can overcome the impossible. They did. And I couldn’t be prouder..

“Welcome to The Big Wide World, Princess. I will do everything I can for you and more, I promise.”

Fans were quick to comment on Danny’s post with many calling baby Callie “beautiful”, “a fighter” and “a real life hero”.

Another gushed: “Gorgeous post made me tear up.”

The actor accompanied the post with a super cute photo of Callie lying in a cot underneath a pink blankie and a sign reading “I’m Going Home”.

On the ITV soap, Danny’s character Aaron is an unofficial surrogate dad to husband Robert’s son Seb.

But that is all in jeopardy as mum Rebecca swears to take Seb away from the village for good.
