The actor continued to work after his father made a "dying wish" that he shouldn't stop.

He revealed the news his father had passed away in an emotional tweet.

Later on the same day, he thanked all his fans for their heartfelt support during the difficult time.

Reece wrote on Twitter: "Recently, when I said I had 'brilliant followers'... I lied. I have UNBELIEVABLY brilliant followers!!!

"Your words of love and support today are as kind and generous as they are uplifting.

"Too many to reply to individually, but a heartfelt 'thank you' to each and every one of you. x

The following day he tweeted about his return to work in his dad's "honour".

"Having lost my dad yesterday, today I begin shooting my latest Moving On drama for @LAProductionsUK and BBC One.

"Where I'll get the strength from, I have no idea... but it was his dying wish that I wasn't to stop.

"I shall do it in his honour and let him carry me through.  xxx

"Got to get to work now and won't have time to read all your wonderful messages re my dad.

"But I will... I promise!

"May your day bring good things. x (sic)"
