Nasty Geoff Metcalfe has had viewers furious for weeks as he slyly controls and manipulates every move girlfriend Yasmeen Nazir makes in Coronation Street.
Next week sees the radio DJ step things up a gear when he continues to gaslight Yasmeen into believing she’s done something wrong again.
Firstly, he makes sure she sees him looking on a dating website.

When she worries he’s going off her, he tells her it’s research for his radio show, and snaps that she obviously doesn’t trust him.
As his mind games continue to sap her confidence away bit by bit, he hits out again when he convinces her her memory is failing her.
Explaining that either she’s losing it or she just doesn’t listen to a word he says, Geoff tells Yasmeen he was planning to take her on a romantic break to Las Vegas, but as she clearly doesn’t trust him, he’s not going to bother.
His words leave Yasmeen feeling terrible once again and Geoff is secretly thrilled his grip on her is strengthening.
Yasmeen is the victim of Geoff’s coercive control and Corrie have been consulting with a domestic abuse charity on the storyline.
Geoff has spent weeks stepping up his controlling behaviour bit by bit, staging a robbery in their home to make Yasmeen feel unsafe, getting the insurance to pay out to his bank account, and installing security cameras.
When Yasmeen tried to stand up to him about it and told him to take the cameras down, he moved out, insisting she didn’t care about him at all. But he left one camera behind so he could spy on her.
Eventually, after convincing her he could have cancer, and making her feel terrible about that, Geoff moved back in.

The other week, Alya was horrified when Geoff and Yasmeen went behind her back to buy Zeedan’s share of the business.
Alya’s been suspicious of her gran’s fella for a while, and whilst she was fine with Yasmeen buying into Speed Daal, she wanted to keep Geoff out of it.
However, Zeedan sold his shares to them, meaning they are stuck with Geoff, even if Yasmeen does manage to break free of him.
But that doesn’t look like happening any time soon…
Coronation Street is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7.30pm and 8.30pm with an extra episode on Thursday at 8.30pm on ITV.
