In the background lies a scattering of what look like Forget-Me-Nots, said to be Harry’s mum’s favourite flowers.

They captioned the post: “Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered. We honour and celebrate each and every one of you.

“Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe. This is the first Mother’s Day for The Duchess of Sussex.”

The account then offered a quote from the poem Lands, by Nayyirah Waheed.

She’s believed to be interested in ‘postnatal confinement’ after reading a book given to her by her mum, Doria Ragland.

Called The First Forty Days: The Essential Art of Nourishing the New Mother, it’s said to recommend that new mums avoid visitors or interacting with the world, beyond a small circle of people, to form a better bond with their children while focussing on their own wellbeing.

A source told the Sun: “Doria has been speaking to Meghan constantly throughout her pregnancy, and couldn’t have been more supportive.

“She was recommended this book, read it, and then sent it to Meghan who said it had become her ‘bible’ – she wants to adopt the key principles in as much as her royal status allows.

“Obviously she cannot shut herself off completely from the outside world but she and Prince Harry are in agreement that her visitors in the first two weeks will be family members only.”
