One person wrote: “I hate to use the word chavvy but yes, Archie would come under that bracket.”

Another said: “Archie is a common name round here and that together with a surname as first name make it extremely chavvy as far as I am concerned.”

A third added: “I don’t think its chavvy, just extremely common and unremarkable.”

A fourth even commented: “I think it’s a common name and can’t stand it. I think the name is okay for a pet!”

One person said: “I think it’s a lovely name I don’t see any ‘chav’ connotations with it at all to be honest.”

Another wrote: “Never thought of it as ‘chavvy’. I like it,” while another commented: “I wouldn’t say chavvy. There’s much chavvier names.”

New mum Meghan – who looked radiant in a white blazer dress – added: “It’s magical, pretty amazing. I mean I have the best two guys in the world. I’m really happy.”

A few hours later, the couple then announced his name in an Instagram post, showing the royal tot meeting his great grandmother the Queen and Prince Philip.

Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland, who was by her daughter’s side at the birth, was also in the photo.
