Meghan ‘likely to take baby Archie to America to spend time with her mum Doria’

It will mark the royal tot's first overseas trip

| Updated:

The Duchess of Sussex is reportedly likely to take son Archie on his first overseas trip soon.

Meghan, who welcomed baby Archie with her husband Prince Harry last month, is apparently keen to take her son to America to spend more time with his grandma, Doria Ragland.

According to royal expert Juliet Ridden, Meghan will travel to the States “often” so Archie can spend time with her mum Doria.

It’s been said that Doria travelled back to Los Angeles after her daughter gave birth to her grandson.

Speaking on podcast The Windsors, Juliet said: “I’m sure Baby Sussex will be going to America quite soon – this is normal in every other family, that the baby gets taken to the grandparents often.

“I’m sure that will be the case for Baby Sussex.”

Speaking about the rumours that Doria could move to the UK to be closer to Meghan and Archie, Juliet added: “I’m sure Doria will be a very hands-on grandma. Whether she’ll be moving in is another matter. She’s got her own life – she lives in America, she’s got her own job – so it’s not like she can throw everything up in the air.”

Meghan has been settling into motherhood after welcoming her son on May 6.

Last week, it was reported that the Duchess had shunned royal tradition with her choice of pram for new baby Archie.

Every royal baby in recent history has been seen in a plush Silver Cross pram.

Meghan, though, had apparently decided to shun the make that’s dubbed the “Rolls-Royce” of prams in favour of a Bugaboo Fox, which costs around £1,200.

Meanwhile, it was also said that Meghan and Harry were in a “state of delight” after welcoming their little boy.

Harry flew to Rome last month to take part in a polo match for his charity Sentebale and, according to his polo pals, the doting new dad had a “glow” about him.

Sentebale chairman Johnny Hornby told People: “He is a magnet for children. I didn’t think he could have appreciated children more than he did before, but I have seen a whole new involvement with them now he’s a father.”

Johnny added that Harry’s polo-playing friend Nacho Figueras met “little Archie” the week before and he revealed: “The duke couldn’t take his eyes off of him – nor his hands.”

He added of the couple: “The two of them are just in a state of sheer delight over this birth.”
