Meghan ‘shuns royal tradition with baby Archie’s £1,200 pram’

The duchess is doing things her way

| Updated:

New mum Meghan Markle has reportedly shunned royal tradition – this time with her choice of pram for new baby Archie.

Every royal baby in recent history has been seen in a plush Silver Cross pram, but it appears the new mum has something else in mind for her baby.

The Duchess of Cambridge has used the make for all three of her children, Princess Diana used a Silver Cross for Prince Harry when he was a baby, while even the Queen used one as a tot.

Meghan, though, had apparently decided to shun the make that’s dubbed the “Rolls-Royce” of prams in favour of a Bugaboo Fox.

The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly gifted the top-of-the-range model by a friend before the birth of her son. It costs £1,200 and boasts a toddler seat and a bassinet that’s suitable for use from birth.

A source told The Sun: “Meg is loving being a mum. She looks great and she’s enjoying these precious newborn weeks. The new pram is great and perfect for her long walks trying to get Archie to sleep.”

Revealing that breastfeeding is going well, the royal’s pal added that the new parents have decided to forego the services of a nanny.

They added that the couple had help from Meghan’s mum Doria, who returned to Los Angeles last week after staying with the new family at Frogmore Cottage.

They said the new grandmother was “absolutely amazing and a huge help”.

The friend also revealed that Meghan has been getting out and about with her three-week-old son “as the weather has been good”. They said she “has been very pleased to see her friends”.

It comes as it’s rumoured that Meghan will make her second public appearance since giving birth at next month’s Trooping The Colour ceremony.

It’s thought that, because Kate attended the event soon after the birth of her youngest son Prince Louis, Meghan will follow suit and do the same, appearing with the rest of the royal family on the Buckingham Palace balcony on June 8.

A source told Town & Country that, although Meghan’s maternity leave is expected to be longer than three months, she “may make some official appearances during this time”.

Ent Daily has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.
