Katie Price slammed by fans over ‘dangerous’ social media request for kids

She has campaigned against online haters

| Updated:

Katie Price has done a lot of shocking things in the past 12 months, but horrified fans have slammed her latest move as “SO WRONG” after asking people to ‘follow’ her 11-year-old daughter on social media.

Minutes earlier the former glamour model also set up an Instagram account for son Harvey – who is partially blind, autistic, has Prader-Willi syndrome and has been a constant target for vile online behaviour.

Katie – who has previously complained about her children being targeted by trolls and has dealt with kidnap and blackmail threats around her family – posted a screenshot of Princess’ Tik Tok account.

The mum-of-five wrote: “Princess wants a follow on musically, Tik Tok @princessandre22 💕💕.”

TikTok requires that users be at least 13 years old to use the app and anyone under the age of 18 must have approval from a parent or guardian. Independent non-profit organisation, Common Sense – that offers advice for parents of children using media and technology – recommends the app for age 16+, mainly due to the privacy issues and mature content.

Her 1.9m followers were outraged, with one commenting: “Omg you need to take this down. You will have all kinds of perverts following her 🙈.” Another asked: “OMG why would you even post that? Children are precious, protect them as long as you can 😟.”

A third blasted the reality star: “What you playing at Katie?! Who the hell puts their daughter’s details on for ppl to follow?” A fourth complained: “Why encourage strangers to follow a child on social media?! 🤬🤬🤬 world’s dangerous enough without that!”

Another said: “Why would you want to follow a child on social media that has no connection to you? 🤔.”

One warned: “It’s a forum for grooming. This is known fact.”

And another concerned fan wrote: “I back Kate on a lot but not placing a child on social media where she will be target for predators, your priority should be safe guarding kids.”

A final comment read: “Come on Katie this isn’t right, please take it down she’s a child and this is making her prey to all sorts xx.”

Others questioned whether Katie’s ex – Princess’ dad, Peter Andre – was aware of this development, writing: “Words fail me! Does @peterandre know you are allowing this?”

A few defended the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! star, writing: “For god’s sake most kids have Tik Tok my daughter has it, she is 14 as long as parents monitor it.”

Another said: “My daughter has started following her 😬👍.”

A third commented: “Let Princess live her life @officialkatieprice is her mum and it’s up to her and if she’s fine then u should be. I’m pretty sure she’s able to keep her self safe, she’s not 5 now, come on and let @officialkatieprice and Princess life how the want to live, I don’t think there anything wrong with it!!”

It looks like Princess’ account may now have been deleted. Harvey’s account, however, remains active and has had six posts uploaded already.
