After a previous TV debate concerning crisps threatened to divide the country more than Brexit, Channel 5 have done it again by rating takeaways.
Chinese cuisine was determined to be Britain’s favourite grub to order from home during last night’s show – pulling in nearly a quarter of the total vote to take the ‘God Tier’ top spot.
Indian food placed second in Britain’s Favourite Takeaway, with fish and chips wrapping up the bronze position.
Pizza just missed out on a medal and a place on podium, but it did join Indian food and a fish supper in the ‘Top Tier’.

The ‘Mid Tier’ was stuffed: burgers, fried chicken, diner kebabs and sandwiches took the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh positions respectively.
But alongside the inclusions of Mexican food, sushi and pies in the ‘Don’t Come Anywhere Near Me With These’ bottom tier, there were also some odd picks.
As well as what anyone can only assume to be a sausage, unlikely takeaway choices such as baked potatoes and bagels also featured.
Also making it into the top 20 were Thai food, cheesy chips, tapas and north-east favourite parmo.

Unsurprisingly, not everyone was satisfied by the rankings – and many dished up their own reviews on social media.
“Clearly the people who voted don’t go out, a kebab is not mid tier,” asserted one person on Twitter.
“The accuracy level for you is off the scale. For me it’s pizza which makes total sense,” said another viewer.
“Cheesy chips? Bottom? No chance,” huffed another, who found agreement with another person watching at home.
“That’s always what I get 😂,” the other person responded. “They can go near the top next to a Chinese, mmmmm.”
Others could not get their head around why some of the choices were part of the discussion at all.
“Who’s out there ordering a bagel as a takeaway… #PureCrazyness,” questioned one person.
Another added: “Sorry @channel5_tv but most of these ‘takeaways’ have never seen a takeaway. In the history of humankind, nobody has ever picked up a takeaway menu and decided to order in a baked potato.”
Amazingly, however, the selection and ratings did seem to resonate with a few observers.
“I cannot argue with this pyramid,” concluded one.
“That’s an improvement on the crisps one which was [bleep],” reasoned another.
