Britain braced for TEN days of rain and wind after weekend scorcher

Hurricane Humberto is on its way

Hurricane Humberto will apparently bring TEN days of rain and wind to the UK after this weekend.

Brits will enjoy the last weekend of sunshine before unsettled weather hits the country as the remains of Humberto merge with low-pressure systems.

Temperatures are expected to hit 26C in some parts of the UK tomorrow (September 21) thanks to a Spanish plume.

It’s been said some parts will even be hotter than Madrid, which is expected to experience highs of 23C on Saturday.

Earlier this week, the Met Office said: “It looks set to get warmer as we head into the weekend.

“With high pressure in control we should see plenty of sunshine and some of the highest temperatures in the south on Saturday as southeasterly winds push warm air up from the near continent.”

Spokeswoman Nicola Maxey added to The Sun: “Saturday is going to be the warmest day of this spell of fine weather with temperatures in the southeast likely to reach 26C  or even higher in some spots.

“Elsewhere we are expecting highs in the 20Cs as warm, dry air is drawn in from the near Continent.”

However, the sunny weather isn’t going to last long as rain and wind is already forecast for Sunday (September 22) and throughout next week.

Miss Maxey added: “Saturday will be the last day of the very good weather with low pressure expected to move in later in the weekend as high pressure moves away. Winds will start to pick up and we will move into a more unsettled period of weather with outbreaks of rain and some thunder.”

Hurricane Humberto is currently over the Atlantic off the east coast of America.

Experts have warned that remains of the hurricane will “pass to the north-west of Britain” at the start of next week.

The Met Office said: “We’ll see a marked change in weather as we move to unsettled conditions during the weekend.

“The remnants of ex-Hurricane Humberto will form into a new low-pressure system which will bring wind and rain to the UK by Tuesday.”
