Brian McFadden reveals he’s been supporting Wes Nelson after his split from Megan Barton Hanson

He praised Wes for staying focused on Dancing On Ice

Brian McFadden has praised his Dancing On Ice co-star Wes Nelson following his split from Megan Barton Hanson.

Wes and Megan announced their separation last month, revealing at the time that they have been working hard at their relationship “for well under a year”.

Now, former Westlife singer Brian has said he thinks it’s “incredible” that Wes has “been able to put all his focus on skating” despite the split and revealed he’s “been there” for the Love Island star.

Speaking to New! Magazine, Brian said: “It’s incredible that even with everything that’s been going on in his private life, he’s still been able to put all his focus on his skating. You can really see the results.

“He’s become my little brother now. I really warmed to Wes from the beginning.”

Brian added: “He has had a very tough time outside of the ice-skating and there’ve been a lot of things going on in his personal life, so I’ve been there for him.”

Last month, Megan announced her split from Wes in an Instagram post.

She said: “It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate.

“We have been working hard for well under a year, some of it together, some of it separated, to see what might have been possible between us, and we have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate.”

Meanwhile, last week, Wes insisted he doesn’t fancy his Dancing On Ice partner Vanessa Bauer despite them sharing a “bond” on the ice.

He told The Sun: “There is no chemistry with Vanessa, everyone here knows that, but on the ice there has to be some kind of bond in terms of your dancing, not off the ice.

“Vanessa is happy and Megan is happy there is nothing going on.”

Wes also said he understands why Megan, 24, was upset about his long training hours with Vanessa, but hinted their drama distracted him from his performances.

He added: “No woman would enjoy their partner training with another woman for an extended period of time. Obviously it wasn’t easy. It affected our training and it threw my routine off a bit. Maybe the pressure got to me.”

Wes also told OK! Magazine that he didn’t think Vanessa as his “cup of tea”.

Speaking about his relationship with Megan, Wes added to the publication: “Of course I still love Megan. You can’t just drop the feelings after a week of being split up, but loving someone doesn’t mean that they are the right person for you.”
