Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas shares a photo of her lookalike mum Audrey Rich

They could be twins

Shirley Ballas from Strictly Come Dancing has shared a pic of herself smiling alongside her mum on social media – and the two look exactly alike!

The judge, 58, posted on Instagram about a podcast interview she did this week with her “darling mum” Audrey Rich and presenter Lisa Snowdon.

Shirley captioned the photo, which shows the three of them beaming for the camera: “So amazing to do the #ThingsIToldMyDaughter podcast for @fabulousmag with my darling Mum!

“Great to chat with the lovely @lisa_snowdon – we had so much fun!”

Shirley and Audrey are pulling similar faces and the two look near identical, minus their different hair colours and Audrey’s glasses.

During the interview, recorded for the new Fabulous magazine podcast Things I Told My Daughter, Audrey revealed how she supported Shirley as she pursued her demanding career by helping to bring up grandson Mark, now aged 33.

As reported by The Sun, Shirley said on the podcast: “My mum used to take care of Mark while I was travelling all over the world with my second husband Corky. And Mark would come [to the house] and my mother would delightedly enjoy every minute of having him. Didn’t you?”

Audrey replied: “Well, I kind of brought him up from when he was two.”

Shirley then joked: “Oh, you’re taking my motherly skills away from me!”

Audrey went on to reveal that she lived in Texas in 1986, when Mark was born, but she moved to London and looked after him while Shirley jetted off around the world.

Elsewhere in the interview, Shirley credited Mark – a professional dancer and choreographer – with helping her land the job as head judge on Strictly in 2017, when she replaced Len Goodman.

She said her son, who was on Dancing with the Stars at the time, encouraged her to go for “Uncle Lenny’s job” and she did.

And former judge Darcey Bussell, who left the programme earlier this year, was “so kind, so caring” when she showed her the ropes, Shirley explained.
