Actress Catherine Tyldesley is in trouble with BBC producers less than a week into the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

The former Coronation Street star, 35, is among the celebs competing for the coveted Glitterball trophy in series 17 of the hit BBC One dance competition.

Cath was on Lorraine today (10.09.19) to chat about Strictly, where she is partnering with South African pro Johannes Radebe.

On the daytime talk show, host Lorraine Kelly asked her about training for the show and how she had found it so far.

Catherine said: “It’s joyous, that’s the word I keep using. But it’s so much harder than I thought.

“Because I’m a huge fan of the show, I’ve watched it and thought, ‘Oh I could do that’. But it’s so much harder… We’re already getting into trouble for laughing too much!”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Cath revealed that her four-year-old son, Alfie, is looking forward to seeing his mum take to the dancefloor.

Lorraine asked: “When you were a kid you wanted to dance, didn’t you?”

She replied: “Yeah, absolutely. I’ve just never had the confidence to [do it]. The older I’m getting… you know what, I thought, ‘I’m just going to go for it, and do it’. My son, Alfie, loves to dance, he loves the show. So he’s really excited.”

This year’s Strictly got off to a sensational start on Saturday (07.09.19), when viewers were treated to a mix of dance routines and got to see which pro dancer each celeb has been partnered with.

Fans also got to meet new judge Motsi Mabuse, sister of pro dancer Oti. Motsi was drafted in to replace former panellist Darcey Bussell following her shock departure earlier this year.

Motsi, who was formerly a judge on the German version of the show, got something of a thumbs up this week from ex-judge Len Goodman.

Speaking on This Morning, he said the South African “seems alright” but admitted it might be “awkward” having to judge her own sister, telling hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: “I can imagine it’s awkward if you’ve got to judge a relative. You’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t.”
