Dancing On Ice: Perri Kiely and Libby Clegg confirmed as contestants

The new series returns in January

Libby Clegg and Perri Kiely have been confirmed as the seventh and eigth Dancing On Ice contestants for next year's series.

The pair will be taking to the ice alongside Love Island's Maura Higgins, Michael Barrymore, former footballer Kevin Kilbane, ITV News presenter Lucrezia Millarini, Steps singer Ian 'H' Watkins and Coronation Street actress Lisa George.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that Diversity dancer Perri is part of the line-up and he'll have to impress his troupe leader Ashley Banjo, who is a judge on the skating show.

On Friday it was confirmed that paralympian Libby, who has a deteriorating eye condition known as Stargardt's Macular Dystrophy disease giving her only slight peripheral vision in her left eye, would be getting her skates on.

On Thursday, it was announced that Lisa - who plays Beth Tinker in Corrie - had joined the line-up.

She said on Lorraine: "I did ice skate when I was a child for a couple of years until I was about nine.

"I was in a competition and I fell, I stuck my blades in the ice. The ice shot up like a shard and cut my chin open, and that was the end of my skating career. I'm 49 this year so I haven't been on the ice for around 40 years."

She added: "Yesterday (25.09.19) was my very first session. I really enjoyed it. I didn't fall. I enjoyed it.

"I was a bit scared, because the ice was really glossy and I thought, 'Oh, that's when I fell.' I had this flashback.

"But I was OK, I didn't fall over at all."

On Thursday's Good Morning Britain, Ian confirmed he was taking part in the show.

He said: "What am I doing? I feel like I'm giving birth to something. "I haven't been training [yet]. We've only accepted the job over the last couple of weeks.

"I've auditioned for it twice before so it's third time lucky. I've frantically been YouTubing James Jordan and Ray Quinn.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Lucrezia said in a statement: "I'm super excited to be joining the line up for DOI! I can't wait to get out there on the ice and start training.

"While the news agenda is already pretty busy these days, I know life is about to get a lot busier... with a few bruises along the way!"
