Eamonn Holmes clashes with Alice Beer and Ruth Langsford over diet advice

He wasn't impressed with the portion sizes

Eamonn Holmes managed to upset not one, but two women on This Morning after he snapped back at Alice Beer when she warned him about putting on weight, and then he branded wife Ruth Langsford “miserable”.

The presenter’s bad temper began during a segment on the amount of sugar in breakfast cereals, during which Alice was highlighting the amount of sugar in some of the big named boxes.

Revealing his favourite cereals were Sugar Puffs, Frosties and Ricicles. Alice warned: “If you’re not careful you’re going to put on weight if you eat those kinds of cereals.”

However, Eamonn really lost it when Alice showed what the recommended serving sizes should be, which were much smaller than the 59-year-old presenter imagined. He shouted: “Oh get out of it. Come on. Be serious.

“If you went to a hotel and queued up for your buffet and someone handed you that…”

After trying some healthy granola which he grudgingly confessed did not taste like “poison” as he expected, Eamonn joked: “The only thing you can guarantee is if you lead a miserable life you will live forever.”

Eamonn then turned on long suffering wife Ruth, 59. Reflecting on what they’d been discussing, Eamonn branded her “miserable”, also claiming she raised their son on a diet of “carrots and peas”.

However, Ruth, who is very used to Eamonn’s digs quickly hit back with “Well, that’s because I’m married to you.”

She also pointed out that their son could be described as “strapping” because of how she brought him up with a healthy diet.
