There is nothing like facial hair to divide a nation – and, right now, no one knows that better than Tim Lovejoy.
The Sunday Brunch presenter debuted a new beard on Sunday’s show, and viewers went mad over it, with some branding him “20 years older”, while others gushed that he was “rocking it”.
Those watching at home flocked to social media to share their opinions, with many not enjoying the white beard.
One wrote: “Puts 20yrs on ya, have a shave.” Another blasted: “If you feel the need to change Tim, shave your head – but the beard has to go.”
A third tweeted: “#TimLovejoysBeard is causing me mass confusion. Tim is so image conscious and so desperate to look as young as possible that I can’t understand why he’s keeping a grey beard on his face. Up to him though, it’s his face #Sundaybrunch.”
While a fourth commented: “#SundayBrunch what, when how did Tim grow a full beard in a week and more importantly WHY?” One more lamented: “Oh dear… That’s the end of my crush then.”
Some liked his hairy makeover, with one commenting: “Tim Lovejoy is improved greatly with that beard #sundaybrunch.” Another told him he was: “Rocking it!” While a third said he looked: “Older but cooler.”

The official Sunday Brunch account challenged followers to come up with Tim’s new lookalikes, tweeting a picture and asking: “Who do we think @timlovejoy looks like? #NewYearNewBeard 🧔 #SundayBrunch.”

Nearly 500 comments flooded in over the next hour, with one suggesting: “He’s looking like a young Albert steptoe. 🤔🤔🤔.” Another said he was a dead ringer for Jeremy Corbyn now, with a second joking he looked like the Birds Eye captain, writing: “Your fish fingers are the best captain 👨✈️.”
A third joked: “Why is Simon presenting with Jeremy Corbyn this morning.. Has Tim pulled a sickie again?”
Others compared his look to Graham Norton, Andrew Lincoln, Santa Claus, John Malkovich, and even Papa Smurf!

The show – also presented by Simon Rimmer – featured interviews with Ruby Wax, Ashley Banjo, Joe McFadden, Emily Atack, as well as Matt Pritchard doing a segment on his “Dirty Vegan food”, and Sarah Kingsbury sharing tips on vegan wines.

We are on the fence about the beard. But at least this is a makeover that can be changed back very easily…
