Why Kate Garraway has ‘dropped out’ of I’m A Celebrity

Show bosses have a week to find a replacement

| Updated:

Good Morning Britain host Kate Garraway has ‘pulled out’ of the upcoming series of I’m A Celebrity because she didn’t want to be away from home for so long, according to reports.

The Sun claims ITV show bosses will have to search for a late celeb stand in to replace Kate after the 51-year-old decided the timing wasn’t right for her to take part in the show.

But despite the apparent U-turn on heading Down Under, it is believed Kate’s current reported doubts about leaving the UK will not rule her out of appearing on future runs of the show in Australia.

The Sun Online quotes a TV insider as saying: “Kate is no longer taking part – she didn’t want to be out of the UK for a long time and it’s just not the right time for her to take part.

“She’s a big fan of the show so she’s not ruling it out forever – just this year!”

Presenter Kate was linked with a spot in the jungle camp in the summer, with reports claiming she would be offered a £150,000 deal to appear.

“Kate has always been relatable and game for a challenge but since entering her fifties she’s embracing all aspects of life and sees the Aussie jungle as the ultimate life test,” an unnamed source was reported to have said at the time.

The 18th series of I’m A Celebrity, hosted by Dec Donnelly and Holly Willoughby, begins in just over a week’s time on Sunday 18th November at 9pm.
