Zoe Ball forced to apologise following almighty Strictly blunder on It Takes Two

Live TV – it happens!

Judging by how fast she talks, we reckon Zoe Ball’s brain must be on hyper-drive most of the time.

The trouble being, when you don’t have time to think about what you’re trying to say, mistakes will inevitably happen.

And Zoe made a rather big boo-boo on last night’s Strictly: It Takes Two, when she welcomed Shirley Ballas onto the spin-off show for the first time by calling her the wrong name (no biggie, she’s only the head judge after all!).

Introducing a slot in which the 57-year-old would offer her opinion on this year’s dancers, Zoe beamed: “Will their hard work be enough to impress our head judge?”

She then launched her arm into the air and yelled: “Give us a twirly, Shirley… It’s Shirley BASSEY!”

Realising her mistake straightaway, the 46-year-old presenter corrected herself, then cupped her mouth with horror.

Luckily, her blushes were spared as the camera quickly cut to Shirley and professional dancer A J Pritchard dancing their way into the studio as the studio audience roared their approval.

And Zoe’s blunder wasn’t the only mishap to occur on the Friday 13th programme.

Strictly contestant Brian Conley, 56, made a guest appearance – and it’s one he’ll no doubt want to forget.

As he danced onto the set with his professional partner Amy Dowden, to chat about tonight’s live show, the comedian stumbled up the step and fell onto his knees.

He jokingly claimed that Amy had tripped him up, saying she was “so naughty”.

After grabbing his back in mock pain (at least we HOPE it was mock pain), ‘Dangerous Brian’ sank onto the couch with a grimace.

Zoe laughed: “We’re going to be in so much trouble!”

Brian only narrowly avoided being eliminated from the show in the first week, squeezing out Holby City actress Chizzy Akudolu via a dance-off.

But after last night’s escapade, we can’t see him lasting the distance!
