Eamonn Holmes is urging Ruth Langsford to QUIT Strictly Come Dancing

Presenter wants his wife to “step away”

He’s been her biggest cheerleader since Strictly Come Dancing kicked off last month.

So fans may be shocked to hear Eamonn Holmes, 57, has urged his wife Ruth Langsford, also 57, to “step away” from the BBC One dancing competition.

Why the U-Turn, you ask?

Well, it’s all because poor Ruth’s found herself struck down by the dreaded Strictly curse – no, not falling for her dance partner, the other one: picking up a nasty injury.

According to The Mirror, Eamonn let slip at a recent event that Ruth’s been having daily physio sessions to combat a hamstring injury.

Ouch. Naturally, it’s left Eamonn a little bit worried that his beloved wife is overdoing things.

But, of course, this being Eamonn, he couldn’t resist a little cheeky joke at Ruth’s expense while expressing his concerns!

He said: “The chances of her winning are nil. I say to her, ‘Are you OK? You look exhausted. Is it not time to step away?’”

Well, not as far as Ruth’s concerned!

Eamonn added: “She is enjoying proving things to herself. I think she loves it.”

Of course, we reckon it was all just a joke: Eamonn’s been front row supporting Ruth every time she dances and is clearly bursting with pride at his wife’s achievements.

He was chatting to an audience while getting sculpted by celebrity sculptor Frances Segelman at a charity event held for Gesher School, a primary school for children with special needs.

“Of course Ruth said, ‘Why on earth would you get a bust of yourself done?’ Eamonn told the Gesher School website.

‘I said, ‘Why not? It will raise tens of thousands for charity.’ Then she was wondering where I’d put it – ‘I said on the table in the front hall’.

“She thinks it’s ridiculous. She’ll get tired of looking at it, but I won’t!”

Perhaps the bust of Eamonn can keep him company while Ruth’s out at the Strictly studio working on her routines with pro partner Anton du Beke?

They’re performing a Tango to Allegretto by Bond.

Ruth revealed on Instagram this week that she’d been briefly replaced by Anton on the dance floor when he enlisted the help of another man to show Ruth how the dance was done.

Posting a snap of Anton and Jason Gilikson dancing, she joked: “Had a body double to help teach me the Tango today…..trouble is they both wanted to lead!!!”

The star also admitted that the Tango spins were leaving her “dizzy” but she couldn’t wait to show off her moves on Saturday night.

Sorry Eamonn, there’s no stopping her!
