The Grand Party Hotel returns to BBC One with more behind-the-scenes drama

The BBC fly on the wall show features one of the country's rowdiest party venues

The Grand Party Hotel on BBC One caused a stir when it started last month, and the series is back for another episode tonight.

Airing this evening (Thursday, October 1), the programme will continue to give viewers an insight into the staff and customers at one of the country’s rowdiest party venues, The Shankly Hotel.

Where is The Shankly Hotel located?

The party hotel is in Liverpool. The Shankly Hotel occupies Millennium House at 60 Victoria Street in the heart of the city centre.

The clue is in the name of the party hotel. Liverpool FC legend Bill Shankly, the Scottish footballer and manager, is best known today as one of the club’s most successful managers.

Who is in the The Grand Party Hotel cast?

In the first episode, viewers got to meet Lawrence Kenwright, boss of Liverpool-based property group Signature Living.

The Grand Party Hotel cast also featured new general manager Lyndon. He was brought in to whip the venue into gear after it fell out of the top five on reviews website TripAdvisor.

Unfortunately, he clashed with some members of staff who didn’t agree with his strict standards.

Among them was enthusiastic guest relations manager Liam, whose job it is to show big parties to their rooms and make sure they have a great time. Liam also supplies shots and all the info they need to enjoy Liverpool’s famous nightlife.

Also featured were senior director Kris Mochrie, hard-working cleaner June and helpful doorman Eric.

Viewers were divided over the programme, although some loved it. One said on Twitter: “Omg I want to stay in the Shankly hotel!” Another said: “TheGrandPartyHotel: I absolutely LOVE it!”

Is Lyndon still in The Grand Party Hotel?

No, information at the end of the first episode revealed that Lyndon had moved on.

After a short stint as The Shankly Hotel’s general manager, he decided he didn’t like the job.

What happens in episode two of The Grand Party Hotel?

In the second episode, the hotel braces itself for a busy weekend of almost 700 guests.

However, it’s just another day for owners Lawrence and Katie, who live in an on-site apartment on the fourth floor with their three-year-old twins.

It reveals how locals see the couple as The Posh and Becks of Liverpool Hotels.  Lawrence has the grand vision for the business, but it’s Katie who turns his vision into a workable reality.

Who were some of the guests on The Grand Party Hotel?

The first episode of the show featured social media influencer Jade Ainsworth, who was unfortunately kept waiting for her room – because the decorators were still putting in the finishing touches!

She was please in the end, though.

Elsewhere, it featured a lesbian couple who tied the knot and delighted viewers when they brought out The X Factor star Wagner as their special guest.

When he arrived, the staff at the hotel showed Wagner how to do a Jägerbomb before he went out and sang for the happy couple.
