It’s a now legendary moment in TV history that viewers will never forget.

When ever-so-professional Bradley Walsh asked one of the contestants in what sport does Fanny Chmelar compete for Germany, he couldn’t contain himself.

For a reason known only to him (though that first name is a giveaway), Bradley creased up and couldn’t stop laughing.

The clip subsequently went viral and The Chase became a must-watch show.

But now Bradley has said he would like to meet the sportswoman so that he can apologise to her for laughing at her name.

Speaking to Christine Bleakley, who was standing in for Lorraine Kelly this week, the funnyman admitted that he still feels bad about laughing so hard at her name.

“I’d love to meet her, just to apologise,” the 57-year-old host and unlikely popstar told Christine.”She must have had enough of it by now.”The poor thing. I do apologise.

“I have to apologise to Fanny. I’m sorry Fanny.

“She’s a very good downhill skier by all accounts.”

But while Bradley might be happy enough to offer an olive branch, it turns out that Fanny might not be as keen to accept his apology.

During their chat Christine revealed that the show’s producers had reached out to Fanny to get her to say something to Bradley during his appearance.

But it appeared she wasn’t keen to join in the fun.

Christine told Bradley that they had reached out to her to see if she had anything to say to him but had had a swift answer.”We wanted her to do a little video,” Christine explained.”But she got back to us and said, ‘I’m just not interested’.”She basically told us to clear off, in the nicest way.”

Ouch!
