Corrie SPOILER: David proposes to Shona

He unexpectedly pops the question - but will she say yes?

| Updated:

There’s yet another proposal in Coronation Street next week when David Platt gets down on one knee and asks girlfriend Shona Ramsey to marry him.

The love-up pair have recently reunited after David dumped Shona while he was in turmoil after Josh Tucker raped him back in March.

After Aidan Connor tragically took his own life last month, David finally faced up to his demons and confessed to Shona that he’d been the victim of a sexual assault.

Since then Shona has stood by her man, encouraging him to report Josh to the police for his disgusting crime and supporting him when the mechanic was released without charge.

Next week sees David start his community service for viciously attacking Gary Windass and putting him in hospital.

He’s assigned to help other offenders refurbish Jamila house but when Billy pops in to see how he’s getting on the others are less than impressed that David is friends with a vicar.

It’s after the ribbing from the other offenders that David drops in to see Shona at the cafe and pops the question to her.

But David is upset when Shona doesn’t give him the answer he wants to hear, saying the time isn’t right yet and he should wait until he is stronger.

David heads back to his community service and Billy is shocked to overhear him making some homophobic comments about him with another offender.

When he confronts the hairdresser about his cruel words, he’s stunned when David breaks down and reveals to him that he was raped by Josh Tucker.

Billy listens in shock as David tells the story of how Josh drugged and raped him on a night out before playing cruel psychological games with him.

He explains to the vicar that he even reported Josh to the police but he was released without charge because there was no evidence.

A horrified Billy suggests that David seriously consider seeing a counsellor about his ordeal.
