Corrie SPOILER: Billy bonds with David

The two share an unexpected moment when David confides in the vicar about his rape ordeal

| Updated:

One thing we love about Coronation Street is the way the writers pair up unlikely characters and manage to create some wonderful friendships.

Some of our recent faves have been Carla and Roy and Bethany and Mary. They’re at it again next week when David Platt and Billy Mayhew bond.

The odd couple get talking when Billy pays a visit to Jamila House where David is serving his community service.

He was sentenced last month following his brutal attack on Gary Windass earlier this year.

But David doesn’t prove popular among the other offenders when he appears to be friends with a vicar – and a gay vicar at that.

When Billy overhears David making homophobic comments about him with one of the other offenders, he is shocked.

When the other man leaves Billy pulls David up on his comments but is left floored by the reaction he gets.

David breaks down and tells Billy about being raped by Josh Tucker back in March this year and how Aidan Connor’s suicide finally made him face up to his demons.

Billy listens in shock as David tells him about his ordeal and as the pair bond Billy suggests that David really needs to consider seeing a counselor in order to move forward.

David takes his words on board and thanks him for listening to him. But will he take his advice?

The hairdresser has been in turmoil since Josh spiked his drink with GHB and raped him on a lads’ night out earlier this year.

He’d been grooming him for weeks, pretending to be his friend before he made his move and dragged a semi-conscious David back to his flat where he sexually assaulted him.

David didn’t tell anyone initially, instead pushing those close to him away and taking his anger out on Gary during the charity boxing match that Josh organised.

But when Aidan tragically took his own life, David realised that he didn’t want to go down the same road and admitted to Shona – who he’d dumped – that he’d been raped.

David decided to go to the police about the attack but with no evidence, Josh was released without charge.

The twisted mechanic will return to the Street later this year and Corrie boss Kate Oates has promised that justice will be served – but not in the way we expect.
