Emmerdale’s new kayaking instructor Ben sparks romance with Aaron Dingle

Simon has a famous Corrie ex too

Emmerdale recently announced the arrival of newcomer Ben, who is being played by actor Simon Lennon.

Ben is coming to the Dales as a kayak instructor at the Outdoor Pursuit centre. But he ends up catching the eye of Aaron Dingle.

It seems there may eventually be romance on the cards for Ben and Aaron.

But who is actor Simon Lennon? And where do you know him from?

Simon is well known for his role in BBC drama Our Girl playing Brains. Simon played the role from series one until series four, working alongside EastEnders star Lacey Turner and former Corrie actress Michelle Keegan.

In 2015 he appeared in a short film called The Dark Room and in 2017 he appeared in another short film called Sunday, Sunday.

He also appeared in TV series Grantchester for an episode playing Marcus Ruskin.

Simon has also worked with his Emmerdale co-star Danny Miller recently on another project.

This year, the short film PACE, which was directed by Danny, was released. Simon played character DC Felton.

Although Simon has recently become a soap actor himself, he previously dated Coronation Street star Sair Khan.

Sair and Simon dated for almost two years. However in September 2019 it was reported the couple had split up.

What’s to come for Ben and Aaron in Emmerdale?

This week, Aaron books a kayak lesson with Ben in an attempt to get to know him better.

But Ben points out they already know each other, because Aaron used to bully him at school. Aaron is ashamed to remember he tormented Ben for being gay and tries to repair things.

Ben and Aaron soon plan another date.

Next week, Aaron is about to head out for another kayaking session with Ben when a mysterious letter arrives.

As he opens it, he’s winded to read what it says. Who could the letter be from?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
