Jean Slater faces a tough milestone next week as she has her first lot of chemotherapy. But she’s not the only one in Walford trying to face her fears…
With best friend Shirley Carter by her side, Jean has her first round of treatment for ovarian cancer next week, but before she heads to the hospital, the pair have got some challenges to overcome.
As Linda and Shirley continue to support Jean though the battle of a lifetime, they’re right by her side as she confesses that she is scared of having chemo.

But as the conversation turns to other things that the trio are scared of, Linda starts to tease Shirley about the fact she is scared of heights – leading to her getting a brilliant idea.
Linda suggests that Shirley should face her fears at the same time as Jean, and comes up with a plan for the women.
But will Shirley be as brave as Jean and go through with the challenge that Linda has lined up?
As Jean heads to the hospital later in the week, she is terrified about the fact she is now officially having treatment for her cancer.
But when Stacey goes along to her appointment as well as Shirley, Jean realises she has got so much support from her family and friends to help her face whatever lies ahead.

As the treatment begins, Shirley tries to take her friend’s mind off what is happening by getting her to write a list of things she wants to achieve in her life.
And it seems to work when Jean gets very invested in her list… giving real thought to all the things she still wants to do in her lifetime.
But it’s only later on that Shirley sees Jean’s list and is left stunned by what she has written…
