EastEnders’ Hunter Owen actor Charlie Winter launches new career as exit confirmed

Seems actor is already focusing on a different kind of performing career

Soap actor Charlie Winter has released a second video of him rapping on YouTube, days after his EastEnders departure was confirmed.

The 22-year-old, who plays Mel’s killer son Hunter Owen, is moving on from Albert Square after a year and is believed to have already filmed his final scenes.

Charlie’s axing came as a surprise to many viewers, with his character Hunter involved in one of the BBC soap’s biggest storylines.

The 16-year-old Walford resident bumped off stepdad Ray Kelly during episodes shown over the New Year – and Mel has covered up the crime.

But it seems Charlie – who goes by the name Chaz for his music – is now concentrating on his prospects as a different kind of performer after removing references to the soap on his social media accounts and uploading two tracks to YouTube (please note videos contain swearing).

A video for Cheeky Chappy Flow was added to the site two weeks ago and his latest effort, Overdue Freestyle went up earlier this week.

They have racked up a combined 50,000 plus views in that time.

Both videos are shot in black and white and his latest track samples Ultra Nate’s 1998 tune Free.

“Man went from killing ray to killing tracks,” one viewer commented underneath the music vid on YouTube.

“Sick beat, good bars, like the flow. Keep it up man!” added another.

A third remarked: “He’s so good-looking.”

According to reports, soap bosses decided to axe Hunter after deciding the character had run his course – even though Charlie had impressed.

A show insider is reported as telling the Daily Star: “It’s been decided that it’s the end of the road for Hunter. Producers don’t feel there is anywhere else for the character to go.”

“The decision to axe his character is related to storylines, not Charlie’s performance,” they are said to have added.

– EastEnders airs Monday and Friday at 8pm and Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One
