Corrie’s Alan Halsall reveals fitness secrets behind dramatic transformation

Despite the big change in his appearance, Alan isn't missing out on the odd beer though

Coronation Street star Alan Halsall has enjoyed hitting the gym for hours and hours at a time to achieve his new buff look – but still manages to enjoy the odd cheeky pint.

The Tyrone Hobbs actor, 36, has amazed fans with the change in his appearance in the weeks since he and wife Lucy-Jo Hudson announced their split.

Speaking to The Sun, Alan admitted he is pleased it has been noticed how hard he has been working out after taking on a personal trainer in the last few months.

And the soap favourite has been spending a lot of the time he isn’t on set down the gym – even preparing for his scenes on the cobbles while he gets up a sweat.

Adding he has been training regularly for years, Alan said: “I’ve transformed myself a little bit and people have seen that.”

He continued: “I have a pre-workout meal, I work out, then I have a post-workout meal or a swim and a steam.

“I can come here and learn my lines. You can pretty much spend the day here.”

But despite overhauling his physique, Alan has also managed to maintain his social life.

Insisting his gruelling workouts deserve the occasional treat, he said he enjoys sipping on a beer in the sunshine after a session.

His exertions to be trim have left him slightly injured, however.

The 20 year Weatherfield veteran added he broke a small bone in his wrist just under two months ago.

Lucy-Jo – who also starred on Corrie as Katy Harris between 2002 and 2005 – confirmed the decision to end their marriage of nine years in May.

A statement that read: “I can confirm that Al and I are divorcing.”

“We remain friends and devoted mummy and daddy to our daughter Sienna.

“We would appreciate privacy so that we can focus on Sienna’s continued happiness.”
