Kym Marsh rushed to hospital after suspected salmonella poisoning

She felt like she had been "hit by a truck"

Kym Marsh was left bed-ridden for four days last week with suspected salmonella poisoning.

The Coronation Street actress went through a “terrifying ordeal” when she rushed to hospital after feeling like she had been “hit by a truck” and while she is yet to receive the results of her medical tests, doctors have predicted she could be suffering from the “really serious” infection, which is usually caused by eating raw or undercooked meat, poultry or eggs.

She said: “I felt so awful I had to go to the Alexandra Hospital in Manchester. I was shaking, I felt terrible and like I’d been hit by a truck.

“They ran lots of tests on me and I’m still waiting for the results, but doctors think it could be salmonella poisoning, which is really serious. The ordeal has been terrifying and I’ve never felt so ill.

“I was bed-ridden for four days. The whole family rallied around me, David and Emilie had to get Polly up and ready for school because I couldn’t get out of bed.”

While Kym was struggling with illness, her Corrie character wasn’t heavily involved in last week’s hard-hitting soap scenes, in which Bhavna Limbachia’s character Rana Habeeb died on her wedding day to Kate Connor (Faye Brookes).

But the ending of Wednesday’s (20.03.19) dramatic double episode was spoiled for some viewers last week when Faye’s fiance, singer Gareth Gates, let slip on social media that Rana was going to die 10 minutes before the end of the episode.

Writing in her OK! magazine column, Kym added: “I feel sorry for him because he was just excited to praise Faye’s performance, although I understand this upset fans who were watching.

“We’ve all had slip-ups on social media though, it’s easily done.”

Gareth wrote on Instagram: “So proud of my lady @faye_brookes in @coronationstreet – such amazing TRUE acting. Sad to lose the beautiful and incredibly talented @bhavnalimbachia (sic)”
