The women both believe they are entitled to ownership of Underworld factory.

Carla has been a part of the business for more than a decade, before she handed it to her brother, Aidan Connor, this year as a thank you for donating his kidney to her.

However, she was horrified when Aidan chose to leave the business to Alya in his will before he took his own life.

In last night’s double bill (Wednesday 13 June), Corrie fans were appalled when Alya changed the locks of the factory while the Connor family were mourning at Aidan’s funeral.

However, Sair has revealed she was actually intimated by the thought of squaring up to the might of the Connors.

Speaking to the Radio Times, she said: “Doing any scenes with Ali King [Carla] is amazing; she’s just brilliant.

“They were scary, though, I’m not going to lie! My adrenaline was at an all time high.

“I was shaking after the scenes and it took me a while to calm down. It’s Alya taking on the Connors, which was quite scary.”

Sair also admitted that her character’s shock move to change the locks is just the start of “capable and intelligent” Alya flexing her power… And it’s not going to win her any fans!

She adds: “This move is four years in the making. When she came in, she was super ambitious and had all that passion.

“It may have just been dampened by all of the deaths that have really shaped the person she has become. It’s been hard for her, but her mind is back on track due to this opportunity.”

She continues: “She was running this business with Aidan and they will have done a lot of things together and then Carla has come in and changed everything around. But Alya is just trying to do the right thing, which is to grow the business.”

Sair also teases that Carla’s tactics become ever more underhand, saying: “Alya thought that Carla had a bit more class than it turns out she does.”

“Some of the tactics are really underhand,” she adds, “and she is just quite shocked that Aidan’s wishes are being so disrespected.”

But which businesswoman will come up on top?

Alya has the law – and lawyer Imran on her side – but we all know Carla always gets what she wants!
