Coronation Street fans slam soap for repeating 2015 Carla Connor misery

Carla has been through this kind of thing almost exactly

Coronation Street fans have slammed the soap for ‘repeating’ Carla Connor’s 2015 storylines.

The factory boss suffered a guilt-ridden breakdown that year after a fire she believed she had started claimed the life of Kal Nazir.

In fact it was Tracy Barlow who started the fire, accidentally knocking over a candle after abandoning her plan to kill Carla while she slept.

The aftermath of the fire saw Carla blamed for Kal’s death, with the truth not emerging for months in which time she had become a social pariah.

Fans have hit out at the show for repeating the storyline too closely for their liking and putting Carla back in the misery roundabout.

One said on Digital Spy forums: “Is this Carla storyline not very similar to the 2015 fire (another abysmal storyline, surprisingly!!) where she thought she was responsible for a death, everyone turned on her and she had a breakdown?

“As good as I’m sure Alison King will play it, I can’t muster up much enthusiasm for this storyline because the constant anguish is what put me off Carla in the first place.”

A second said: “Why is every story Corrie is currently planning a rehash of what has happened in the past few years?

“The Underworld collapse is similar to the V-Court fire, with Carla turning suicidal after being blamed, and the new slavery storyline is just like Marta from 2016.”

Another added: “Carla being blamed for yet another disaster like the fire a few years back #Corrie.”

A fourth said: “I can’t be the only one who finds all the storylines dull.

“Even Carla, it’s like watching her getting the blame for the flat fire years ago.”

The culprit of the fire, Tracy, dramatically confessed to what she had done when she thought Carla was going to take her own life over the guilt of it all, so could the same thing happen in May this year?
