Beverley Callard reveals dream to quit Coronation Street for a very different life

She'll be giving up the glamour of acting for a tracksuit and a trowel!

Beverley Callard has revealed she is dreaming of being able to quit Coronation Street for a very different life.

The actress has played Liz McDonald in the show for almost 30 years.

But in her spare time she has developed a hobby that’s left her wishing she could do it every day and give up acting for good.

She has admitted how she wants to become a plasterer.

Beverley explains: “I’m actually doing a course in polished plastering.

“I love painting and decorating. If I could afford it, I’d leave my job and I’d never wear a wonderbra or false eyelashes ever again.

“I’d have a tracksuit on and I’d paint and decorate my entire life.”

Polished plaster is a bit posher than normal plaster.

It has things like marble dust mixed into it so it comes out like marble.

She adds of her Christmas plans to improve her skills: “Jon (her husband) and I have just done a worktop at home that is polished concrete, and we’ve done it before in the photographic studio that we own.

“But now I’m doing polished plaster on walls, and I want to do a proper course on it.”

And she has put her money where her mouth is and done her own house!

She adds: “I love doing that. Honestly, I’m brilliant! I can’t do carpentry but I love painting.

“This artist came to my house and he said he was so impressed with my painting. I used four different colours on a wall, and the wall’s almost sixty feet high.

“I was hanging from ladders. I absolutely love it!

“If I could do an ‘At Home’, I would show you my walls.”
