Woman involved in Prince Philip car crash is banned from driving

Emma Fairweather described the royal as 'inconsiderate'

The woman who branded Prince Philip “inconsiderate” and “highly insensitive” after he was seen driving without a seatbelt 48 hours after they had been involved in a highly-publicised car crash has herself been banned from driving.

Emma Fairweather was a passenger in the car which was involved in a crash with the royal’s Land Rover Freelander on January 17.

The 97 year old’s vehicle flipped over and he was rescued by a passerby via his sunroof.

Fairweather walked away with a broken wrist, while the driver of the Kia she was travelling in escaped unharmed – as did a nine-month-old baby who was travelling in the back seat.

Emma hit the headlines after claiming that no one in the royal family had contacted her to apologise for the smash.

She told the Mirror: “I’m lucky to be alive and he hasn’t even said sorry. It has been such a traumatic and painful time and I would have expected more of the royal family.”

Prince Philip says the accident happened because he was dazzled by low sun as he pulled out onto a busy road in Norfolk, close to the Sandringham Estate. He later sent Fairweather a letter of apology.

Now, in four driving offences unrelated to the royal accident, Emma has been banned from driving for six months.

According to the BBC, she was sentenced in her absence at King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court after court papers revealed that Emma was caught travelling at more than 30mph on two separate occasions last summer.

She was also found guilty of two counts of failing to identify the driver of a speeding offence.

She was fined £450, ordered to pay £115 court costs and banned from driving for six months.

Three weeks after his accident, Prince Philip surrendered his license and was told he would face no further charges relating to the accident.
