Simon Cowell slams online ‘cowards’ for slagging off his face

BGT boss has no time for anonymous online trolls

Britain’s Got Talent boss Simon Cowell has slammed those who have criticised his appearance as ‘cowards’.

The 59-year-old TV judge had a pop back at the trolls who compared him to a melting waxwork at last week’s auditions, insisting such vile comments keep him off the internet.

Si, who is followed by nearly 12 million fans on Twitter but hasn’t posted for over 18 months, added he avoids looking himself up online so he doesn’t get caught up in any negativity.

But the music mogul has clearly been stung by remarks from haters which included fans questioning whether he had undergone cosmetic surgery.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Simon expressed a particular aversion to keyboard warriors who hide behind online anonymity.

“These are people who sit in dark rooms anonymously because they won’t put their real names – which I think is cowardly – writing horrible things about you,” he is reported to have told the newspaper.

Simon continued: “I don’t go on the message boards and I don’t Google myself.

“When you start doing that it becomes negative.”

The taunts began last Friday as Simon posed with BGT co-stars Amanda Holden, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Ant and Dec backstage at the London Palladium.

After David Walliams shared the photo, one person commented: “OMG!! what has Simon done to his face??!!”

A second tweeted: “What has Simon Cowell done to his face! Looks weird!” while a third wrote: “What’s with @SimonCowell’s face? Looks uncomfortable.”

Other cruel remarks suggested he was the subject of a photoshopping fail as the pic was shared across social media.

He was also compared to a misshapen potato and animated Shrek villain Lord Farquaad.

Sounds like the trolls may be getting their licks in before fellow judge and constant teaser David Walliams does when the ITV series returns later in the spring…
